About us

The Campaign to Stop the Bus Cuts is working with riders who stand to lose their bus service under the Port Authority's devastating proposal to slash service throughout Allegheny County. The Campaign is circulating tens-of-thousands of petitions, lobbying law makers, holding public actions -- doing what it takes to STOP THE BUS CUTS and get the funding that we need from Harrisburg to save our buses. Join our growing campaign.

Six community and labor groups representing workers, students, low-income residents, the unemployed and the underemployed, have joined to fight the proposed transit cuts.

ACORN

Mon Valley Unemployed Committee

Since 1982, the Mon-Valley Unemployed Committee has been organizing to improve the lives of workers, dislocated workers and low-income people. We help the individuals access programs that provide survival and retraining benefits and empower them to push for legislative and institutional changes when holes in these programs exist. Our victories have been made possible by the involvement of thousands of affected individuals who worked together to create social change.

Pennsylvania League of Young Voters

The Pennsylvania League of Young Voters engages, educates and empowers young people to build power and create solutions in our communities.

We seek to change the political landscape by empowering young people and traditionally disenfranchised voters.

Service Employees International Union (SEIU)

SEIU represents nearly 10,000 workers in Allegheny County in a number of local unions. SEIU members are janitors, food service workers, county and state employees and healthcare workers.

SEIU members are winning better wages, health care, and more secure jobs here in Pittsburgh, while uniting their strength with their counterparts around the country to help ensure that workers, not just corporations and CEOs, benefit from today's global economy.
